SeaShell Resort & Spa in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was one of those projects. Not because it was complicated to secure or difficult to plan. But because of where it was. And what it was asking our roofing solution to prove, in one of the most unforgiving coastal environments in the country, for as long as the resort itself would stand.
The Andamans are breathtaking. They are also relentless. Salt saturated air, intense humidity, heavy tropical rainfall and coastal winds carry the kind of sustained aggression that reduces ordinary roofing materials to rust and ruin within years.
When the brief came to us, we were not starting from zero. Our team had seen what coastal environments do to buildings up close, having worked across similar island conditions in Sri Lanka, where color coated roofing on buildings over 30 years old continued to hold its colour and structural integrity without compromise. That experience shaped every recommendation we made for SeaShells.
The customer knew our products. They had worked with our Roof and Wall Cladding Solutions before and came with an already established confidence in what we could deliver. But this project had its own particular demands.
A luxury island resort needed a roofing solution that did not just perform, it had to belong.
The conversation around colour was one of the most considered parts of the entire process. Working closely with the customer and their architect Mr. Bhujbal, we evaluated several options, thinking through aesthetics, harmony with the surrounding landscape, heat reflectivity and the overall experience of guests arriving at the property.
Pale Eucalypt emerged from that process not as a compromise but as a conviction. Its soft, earthy tone sat naturally against the island’s lush greenery and coastal character, creating something that felt like a natural extension of the environment rather than a structure imposed upon it.
The moment we saw it against the landscape, it was just right.
Delivering to a remote island location required close coordination with our established channel partner in the Andamans, whose local presence ensured that logistics never became a hindrance. Our team made frequent site visits, worked alongside the installation team and maintained the kind of hands-on oversight that a project in this location demanded. Because when something goes wrong on an island, there is no quick fix. Every decision carried the weight of that reality.
When SeaShell expanded their property years later, covering an additional 6,000 square metres, they came back to us. That call, when it came, carried a quiet significance that went beyond the order itself. The original roofing had stood through fifteen Andaman summers, fifteen monsoons, fifteen years of salt air and coastal storms, and it had not given them a single reason to look elsewhere.
The repeat order did not need many words. It said everything.
